Disabled passengers

Disabled passengers travel with us for free if they have a disabled person’s pass with a valid stamp. If you require a chaperone or a service dog, they also travel with us free of charge. However, the need for this support must be identified by a ‘B’ marked on your disabled person’s pass.

Travelling with luggage, a wheelchair or other orthopaedical aids is also free for disabled passengers. Our metronom train has a carriage that has been set up for wheelchair users and strollers. It is always at the end or at the beginning of the train (it depends on in which direction the train is going).

However, please be aware that our carriages are often very busy to peak times.

If there is sufficient space and a “G” or “aG” is marked on your pass, you may travel with aids such as three-wheelers, handcycles, walking aid seated ortho scooters (> 1200 mm) etc.

Attention: Any changes (e.g. the lamination of the disabled person`s pass or valid stamp) make the pass invalid for travel.

A small hint:

Our tip
Our passenger attendants are happy to assist you when boarding and exiting the train. To use this service, simply press the corresponding wheelchair button next to the door.

And better yet, the earlier we know that you’d like to travel with us, the more assistance we can offer you. Simply get in touch with us before you travel online (the form can be found at the bottom of this page) or by telephone. Then the passenger attendant will be ready and waiting for you at the door of your metronom.

From Monday to Friday between 7:00 am and 8:00 pm and on Saturdays between 7:00 am and 12:00 am, we are happy to receive your call on +49 (0)581 97 164-164.

Children

Children under the age of 6 travel with the metronom free of charge. Children aged between 6 and 14 pay halves of the regular price (Lower Saxony fare zone or Deutsche Bahn tickets) when travelling alone. When accompanied by mum or dad, grandma or grandpa, or another guardian, they can travel on the metronom for free. However, this rule only applies if the adults have purchased tickets at the regular price and the number of children is marked on the ticket.

Attention: This rule may differ for special offers and for other transport network fares (e.g. HVV).

Students

If there is a contractual agreement between the General Student’s Committee (AStA) of your higher education institution and the metronom, then your student ID is valid in the metronom. During your semester period you can travel in standard class (second class) on all metronom connections.

In some transport networks you can only use your semester ticket on selected metronom-routes.

Please note that the semester ticket is personal and non-transferrable.

Any changes (e.g. the lamination of the semester ticket) make the ticket invalid for travel. Exceptions can be made from the universities or AStA themselves.
